David F. Carr
President – Carr Communications Inc.
Versatile and inventive writer, editor, and digital consultant — that’s what it says on my LinkedIn profile, so it must be true. Creator of the RSVPMaker events management plugin and a few others; operator of Toastmost.org, a multisite-based website hosting service for Toastmasters clubs. I’ve been climbing the PHP to ReactJS learning curve for several years, first to add custom blocks to the editor and more recently to build my own alternative to the block editor for specialized tasks like editing WordPress documents representing forms and event agendas. If invited to give a technical talk, I can speak about what I’ve learned along the way (and what I still struggle with).
I’m also a longtime observer of the digital world, originally as a technology journalist at publications like WebWeek and Internet World. Later worked at Baseline Magazine and InformationWeek and freelanced for publications like CIO Magazine and VentureBeat. I wrote the book Social Collaboration for Dummies about the early workplace social media tools. Currently, I work as a writer/editor/analyst for Similarweb, the web analytics and competitive intelligence company, and can speak about big picture issues with the evolution of the web.
