Beka first became interested in web development because of WordPress — using it for her classroom website as a teacher, she wanted to learn how to insert a table into a page, which led her to learning HTML on Codecademy, then CSS, then PHP, then the rest is history. 🙂 She started writing documentation and doing support for WooCommerce extensions, joining SkyVerge as a partner and helping to grow the team to 40 people and a successful exit to GoDaddy in 2020. She has worked on engineering, product, support, and marketing teams, and enjoys helping company leaders understand how to level up team operations and grow 0-to-1 products.

She is now a partner at Medley, investing & acquiring software companies, and works on Kestrel (a Medley subsidiary), a WooCommerce plugin developer as a product architect & company leadership mentor.

Beka is passionate about helping small businesses succeed & compete with big box retailers. She’s also a huge fan of open source software (having worked with WooCommerce since 2013), and enjoys contributing to the growth of ecommerce and omnichannel retail.
